IAIE
The International Association for Intercultural Education was created in 1984 by a group of educators from various European nations. For more than two decades, the IAIE has brought together, into a network, professional educators interested in diversity and equity issues in education.

These concepts have been defined quite broadly, and include intercultural education, multi-cultural education, anti-racist education, human rights education, conflict-resolution, multi-lingual education, etc. IAIE seeks to:
examine the implications of the societal contexts of education and the relationship between society, nation state and the international contexts and the situation of individuals, groups and minorities within them;
contribute to the development and implementation of intercultural education and issues of education in multicultural societies;
promote the exchange of information, knowledge, and materials about all relevant issues concerning education in multicultural societies amongst teachers, teacher trainers, and professionals working in curriculum development, research and educational policy;
initiate, react and respond to activities in the field of education of international and national organizations.

IAIE members include academics, policy makers, educators in the non-profit field, as well as teachers in schools. Their interests are broad with expertise in pedagogy, philosophy, anthropology, law, policy making, social sciences, the teaching profession, etc.

The IAIE regularly organizes international educational conferences and also publishes, through Routledge Publishing, the widely respected refereed journal Intercultural Education. The journal appears five times annually. Previous IAIE conferences have been held in Sweden, Belgium, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands and Bosnia (in Sept. 2007)

CESEDI

Ce.Se.Di. (Centro Servizi Didattici; Teaching Services Centre), established 25 years ago, is a service of the Education Department of the Province of Turin. In collaboration with various public institutions, local authorities and associations, it provides teachers and students with a range of thematically organized educational and training opportunities. It also develops instruments for teacher

planning and facilities to support schools' self-governance. Among these is a specialized Documentation Centre (library, newspaper library, and teaching materials). There are different thematic divisions that include: art and entertainment, cross-culturalism/legal issue/rights education, 20th-century history, teaching methodologies, curriculum counselling, sciences and geography. The Centre's teaching methodology division supports the teacher's role by promoting the adoption of innovative instruments and methods, from cooperative learning to peer education. It has actively promoted and helped to launch a project which, through the educational training of teachers and their ensuing involvement as doers/trainers, has been disseminated in the Turin area.  As a result, a community of practice and learning has been created that develops educational programmes that place the student at the centre of the learning process.
