Confronting Islamophobia in Educational
Practice

Barry
van Driel, Secretary General of the IAIE, has collaborated with
Gillian Klein of Trentham Books to produce an edited book on the
topic of Confronting Islamophobia in Educational Practice. This
book brings together contributions from authors around the globe
who have reflected on this issue, or conducted empirical research,
especially after the events of Sept, 11, 2001 and the most recent
war in Iraq. Authors are both from the academic field and
teachers with concrete classroom experiences. The
main target audience for this book is educators in Europe, North

Since
1997 the IAIE has published the international journal Intercultural
Education. Intercultural Education is a global forum for the analysis
of issues dealing with education in plural societies. It provides
educational professionals with the knowledge and information that
can assist them in contributing to the critical analysis and the
implementation of intercultural education, defined in the broadest
terms. Topics covered include: terminological issues, education
and multicultural society today, intercultural communication, human
rights and anti-racist education, pluralism and diversity in a democratic
framework, pluralism in post-communist and post-colonial countries,
conflict resolution, migration and indigenous minority issues, refugee
issues, language policy issues, curriculum and classroom organization,
and school development. |

The
IAIE also collaborates with Trentham Books in the UK. Trentham Books
publishes a variety of journals and books dealing with many of the
